id: 1347503 - Text: @K.Treep Maybe you’d rather live in Iran. They have moral police. Some utopian society they have. Btw, I forget who conducted this study, but it was a reputable group, they looked at which areas most internet porn traffic was going too. It showed the most conservative areas consumed the most porn. Those religious areas in Utah made top of the list. They consume the most internet porn in the country.

id: 1347505 - Text:  @j.ceasar  Porn is addictive for some people, it gives some people unrealistic views on how sex works and how to behave to eachother. This is a big problem for young, kinda lonely men. Also, families in which people are loyal to 1 partner seem to have way healthier relationships. It's not that everyone who does or whatches porn is evil, it's just that society would probably be better of if not everything was overly sexualized.

id: 1347508 - Text: Btw there's also LOTS of exploitation in the sex industry. It's not all voluntary. We should protect people who are exploited, but we should also protect people who aren't able to protect themselves. We protect people who would be addicted to like cocaine by making it harder to acces. Same thing could be done with porn. And if you're in a healthy relationship, you'd avoid most if not all of these problems if you just make stuff together for your own eyes, maybe it helps the need to watch porn be a bit less idk.

id: 1347512 - Text: can we please stop villainizing sex workers and porn?

id: 1347513 - Text:  @Marsh9090  Nah I'm not saying it's her fault. I don't always take society into account when I live my life. A drug dealer didn't hurt anyone cus they didn't point a gun at anyone sounds silly as well right? We can all see the harm drugs do to people, yes it's their fault for shooting heroin up their arm, but isn't it kinda on the dealer too for making it available? Well it's the same with porn and sex work. You just not realizing the harm this kinda stuff may do to people and society at large doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I've been civil in my comments and just explained my thoughts but people keep strawmanning my arguments. I'm not saying she's a villain or whatever and I'm not saying everyone who does watch porn is wrong for doing so. I'm just stating that there's negatives to it as well.

id: 1347515 - Text:  @j.ceasar  This also is such a weak argument totally void of compassion. Obviously, you hopefully know, people don't ruin their lives cus they want to. People get into a position they can't get out without help. Seriously, addiction is a problem, unhealthy standards are a problem, the way some men treat women as sex objects is a problem. These problems can be the result of porn and other overly sexualized content like music videos. Also, good luck avoiding it. If you're weak of will it's not gonna be easy to just stay off of porn sites. This is like blaming an addict for their problems.

id: 1347516 - Text:  @Scradarash  “a nightclub selling alcohol. Oh no don't you know how addictive alcohol is? So many people have alcohol addictions” Mate, idgaf what addictions you have. Idc if you're addicted to gaming, cigarettes, alcohol, porn, cocaine, etc. Not her problem. It is not the sellers responsibility to be everyone's mommy or daddy. Maybe tell the people with problems to seek help.

id: 1347520 - Text:  @Marsh9090  Yes thats true people have to take responsibility for their actions, I just think that it's really hard to avoid overly sexualized content without going full Amish. Ofcourse we can't protect everyone from all triggers or trauma's, but dialing down the normalization of violence, porn, drug use, binge drinking etc might be a good thing.

id: 1347530 - Text:  @j.ceasar  I'm not an addict but I've worked with and known many. All addicts, like people, are different. Some have a disorder, like depression or impulsiveness. Those people often have very little strength in them to voluntarily skip the casino or drugs or sex. These people will never be ABLE to control themselves, like literally never, before going through a long process of getting and staying clean. In these cases, which in the world of addiction are easily over 50% of the total addicted population, are of no blame. While people who sustain their addiction are way more to blame. A drug dealer is very direct, dealers ruin the lives of people while they are looking them in the eyes, while casinos are more indirect and porn is usually very much seperated from the consumer. But they are all the suppliers of things that ruin lives while they simply profit off of it. Its like giving a child junk food and then expecting them to have the will to not use it while their brain is not developed enough to even know the consequences.
