I understand that his intentions are good but he’s not helping people by “taking care of them” and throwing cash at them like this. I echo the social worker’s comment below: it sounds very much like he’s imposing his own plans and wishes upon them, and then when they fail he’s only furthering the guilt/shame spiral that fuels “the life.”

Helping this girl is a wonderful thing to do but you might as well get a recovering alcoholic a job in a liquer store.
