A chance to finally be something more but unfortunately, things often stretch but sometimes the rest and when that happens you find yourself back at square one. My heart aches for her and her little boys. I was born in a family where my mother was an addict and never there and I met my father for the first time months before he died of cancer. I truly wanted to see this video and see her doing even better and to find out that her life is potentially set back or worse just hurts me to my core. The money can be made back but seeing her life and knowing how hard this could be for her kids growing up and knowing she is going to have to watch this all play out. Just damn you know.

I remember how much of a boost of optimism seeing Asriah's second video gave me—if she could overcome her circumstances, certainly, I, and anyone else, could be strong enough to try as well in our own lives. This just makes it clear how complicated the problem truly is—a crystal clear example of faceless structural evil in action—no convenient bad guy—just one sad and sweeping cycle of suffering. Hopefully this stirs something in Asriah to bring change about in whatever way she can, but it's hard to see this optimistically now.
My heart also goes out to Mark who showed unbelievable courage and empathy to confront her oppressor directly and have a civil conversation with him. Keep doing what you do; change is painfully slow ... but worth the effort.
