Its really ashame, but you cant change people. people who go through traumatic childhoods, drugs, abuse, poverty, 99% of them will never change and will follow the path of self destruction until they die. I grew up with 4 foster kids who had very bad childhoods, abuse, drugs, all that. I've tried to help them, my parents tried to help them, and many others. they are still following that path of destruction. 1 is in jail for murder, one for robbery. These things are systemic and generational. I do think helping people is still a worthwhile effort, even if it only only helps 1 out of 100, its still worthwhile. but this is a sad reality. I hope Asriah can persevere and beat the odds.

id: 562495 - Text: This interview really conflicted me about Mark, with all due respect, I love so much of what you do, I know its not easy I work with homeless people, child protection, addiction, dv, mental health myself, but this video showed a side of Mark that isn't sitting well with me. When you get into this work, of course you want to help people, and trying to improve Azariahs life and her kids life was extremely generous and sometimes that generosity works out. Whats conflicted me, is putting the interview up for all to see, I found it exploitive- im not sure what he was trying to achieve, but to me it was very much about Marks needs and a lot of ego around it, "this was my plan, I thought you could have another life, I gave you money", although Mark said all of it respectfully, I found like he wanted them to sit there on the jury and now a lot of people watching are going to be judging them as bad and hailing Mark as a hero. They're hustlers, survivers, and Mark got played, but I don't think it warranted for them to be named and shamed. A good deed dies, when it is spoken about.
