I think she really wants to change, but she has been doing this, literally, her entire adolescent and adult life. Overcoming that takes more than throwing some dollars at someone and saying, there you go! Time to sink or swim! It was naive of Mark to think that's all it would take and that there wouldn't be setbacks. It can take months or years of responsible assistance, counseling, etc, for someone who has lived like this to learn how to live otherwise. I'm saddened by the outcome but not surprised. I predicted this would happen with the second video because Mark seemed to think that just by getting her out of the "hood" and throwing money at her, she would magically turn things around. I think if Mark had handled this differently, found her some professional help, she would have had a better chance at success. She very well might have relapsed, even then, but a professional organization would have had plans for that and had strategies of how to help someone come back from a relapse.
