id: 582607 - Text: Is it??? After the strong middle class that died in the late 90s. Lower class families have been dropping $500-$700 on modern technology. Windows 95/desktop CPU + Nintendo 64 with your classics (Mario, 007, sports gsmes) and boom box would be well north of $700 in 98-99. Poor families have continued this trend in the mid to late 2000s. Every kid in school had a Ps2-Ps3 or a Xbox360.. Along with gadgets like Ipods, cells, flat screens in their rooms. That would cost 1k per kid when we all know a family of 2-3 can have their own.. These are families that could be lower class spending all that per year for upgrades like cells and video games/systems..
The single adults can spend easily $500-$800 a month on weed.. Literally just that.. There's a reason why pot sales are scraping right below a billion in just weed sales at dispensaries. Nobody ever picks on them or families buying well outside their price range.
I think you underestimate how fast 1k can be if you are making a living and only into 1-2 things. I know people who work at dead end 9-5 that still have enough money for sporting events with seats that start off in the $800 per seat.. Buy booze for 2-3 weekends and call it a month.
