id: 642947 - Text: Mark has said before that this isn’t a help channel, it’s about awareness and stopping the next generation from making the same mistakes with their children that these interviewees parents made with them. Mark does a lot of helping, out of pocket, behind the scenes on purpose because helping isn’t the mission of the channel and it takes a lot of time, resources, and man power to just help one person- and sadly often that person doesn’t take the help- Mark has also talked about this and how much more often than not the help is rejected because a lot of these interviewees not only have drug problems but many have much deeper rooted issues that money won’t fix. Then there’s the sex workers who are used to a certain lifestyle and won’t work a lower wage “straight” job. You also have to think about money management- a lot of these people don’t have the skills to responsibly handle money and it’s not realistic to have Mark divvy out funds to each person with a go fund me. He’s already losing money on every video he makes. None of the videos end up monetized, there are no sponsors, this is a one man operation, he rents a space to use as a studio for these interviews near skid row, he pays each interviewee for their time, and often helps them off camera to get tents, shoes, food, etc. There’s a lot of helping going on behind the scenes and if it were possible to do more in an effective way then Mark would be doing it. Might I suggest if you want to help there is a Selena in or near your hometown. This problem isn’t exclusive to skid row unfortunately. There’s a lot of good you can do in your own community to help people like this.

I agree with your point, and alluded to the same when referring to the ethos of the channel.
I still stand by the suggestion (in so much as assisting her through resources or direction),to use her love for writing (combined with the traction of this video) to work towards goals that can offer a pathway to a way out of her cycle.
Nothing to do with mark’s participation in the above - was just suggesting an Avenue from this video that is entirely plausible if it was something she wanted to try.

I wouldn't doubt he does something to get things rolling for Selena behind the scenes. Whether it's for services or funding... she is worthy of the support.
He doesn't create individual go fund me's for specific people because it became very very complex and he's not exactly getting paid because most of these videos have been defunded by youtube due to the content.
He explains it better than I just did in the videos he's posted.
There might still be a general gofundme that he uses to get certain services for certain people that he interviews. He tries not to enable which is a fine line to walk in this environment. 💜

There are groups that will help women- this girl needs counseling - drug addiction support/recovery, she needs hep to heal the abuse she’s been thru - since childhood and the grieving she is going through. Disgusting - that you are in a position to help lead these people to resources to help them heal- and recover~ you exploit them and it seems you get some sort of creepy voyeur pleasure from prying into their lives- you ask them all these questions- but you have no insight or compassion or desire to help them- you only exploit their sad lives for your own morbid curiously and also your desire to get views on your channel. It is sad and disgusting and I believe your karma will be huge: sad.
