Not naive to think that exposing himself will bring him criticism, but wow...... a SIMPLE request to put her mask away has drawn so much negativity to what he is doing day and night and I'm sure he can chose to spend his time doing other things like most of us. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it. I've never seen any interviewee smoke crack while recorded.

Why did he ask her to; 1) put down her mask? Probably because he thought it might somewhat distract viewers attention away from her face and body language, and 2) adjust her seating position? Probably because he didn't want her to be directly facing the camera. When you can see up her dress, it's distracting, at least it is to men. Anyway, those are my guesses.
