My own children went through me & their dad being heroin addicts, on the streets, their dad has been in prison their whole lives, our kids together are 21 & 17, 21 years he’s been in & out of prison. I gave custody of 3 of my kids to my parents when I started getting bad into heroin, so then I wasn’t around day in & day out like I should’ve been at the time.
I chose to get clean & their dad didn’t. This month I celebrated 15 yrs clean & sober. That’s only a fraction of what my kids have gone through. I’m in no way trying to imply that my kids are perfect, they’re NOT! & I’m so glad they’re not. Thankfully none of them rebelled when they had every right too. Some of the kids I work with didn’t go through a quarter of what the teens in Mark’s videos have gone through, some would act up when younger & instead of the parents parenting their child the parents would take them straight to a Doctor & give the kid whatever pill the doctor prescribed, when the reality is, kids act up. So from young ages these kids were told they had this mental health issue & take this pill to be “normal.” So as the kids get older they learn what they can get away with by saying they have this mental health issue, they act up & then blame it on the mental health issue. Then there are the kids who have gone through living on the streets, helping their parents shoot up, starving, taking care of their siblings & they are not on any meds & are the most respectful teenagers in the world .
I know I rebelled when I was 13 yrs old & at that time I hadn’t gone through anything traumatic, I rebelled bc I thought I knew it all & didn’t want to follow rules or listen to my parents. I look back now and think 💭 man I should’ve listened! 😂
