I feel that. Oh how I wish I could help this woman. She was trafficked as a minor. She never had her mother. She had a psychotic abusive family member raise her. It’s a recipe for disaster. And yet she remains so eloquent and poised.
It just goes to show what childhood abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, and neglect) can do to a person. It makes them want to run away so badly that they will accept sex work rather than go back.

id: 14117 - Text: the interviews do sometimes feel like a reenactment of abuse. of course, these human beings get to tell their stories and sometimes Mark gets to support them. but at the end of the day Mark profits most as they catch his (and our!) attention with the most traumatic stories, which they are left to face on their own. this is an aspect, dont get me wrong. another aspect is the attention that these topics get which is really valuable. it would be interesting for once to interview survivors of sexual abuse who did not turn to drugs and prostitution. beacuse there seems to be a (fake?) correlation

It’s like they already feel so empty and worthless sexually that 10 men a night is not as bad as being molested by one person as a kid.
