id: 25287 - Text: Her face is so young, but the look in her eyes and her voice convey the exhaustion and melancholy of someone who’s lived an entire lifetime of struggle. I have a daughter who is turning thirteen this year and the thought of her experiencing these kinds of things… there’s no words to describe the feelings it gives me. It weighs so heavy on my heart - the knowledge that this is just one of countless souls who have endured such tragic circumstances - and how it’s been happening for all of history and how complex the problems are, how challenging the solution(s) are - it’s what keeps me up at night.
These videos have me counting my blessings for damn sure. I just wish I was in a position to really help affect change. I’m writing a book with a protagonist who is a homeless woman and sex worker (well, she’s a kind of homeless. She has shelter, but it isn’t hers and it’s tenuous) and she becomes a true hero. I have been in situations that cause me to have a lot of empathy for so many of the people in these videos (I will admit it’s harder to feel empathy for a handful of them - compassion is important however) and living similar lives. I feel like all I really can do right now is use my creative voice to share my thoughts and feelings about issues like economic inequality and what it takes to create radical change for humanity. If I had wealth I would put it high on my priority list to use it contribute to the mission of this channel and similar causes.
I hope and pray Amber finds her way to a better life. I can sense she has so much more potential than opportunity. It would be wonderful if that would change for her, and everyone like her.
id: 25328 - Text: One common thread in all these videos is that grossly dysfuntional parents ended up creating painfully dysfuntional children - and Im not saying this as critique, but as a heartbreaking observation. It just goes to show what a massive responsibility it is to put children on this planet and to do a good job of it. Countless numbers of these videos show a common trend of these girls ending up on the streets at 13-years old, and falling into the hands of sociopathic monsters.
