I don't knowhow I survived my childhood then, but I did leave home at 16 and was able to make my way safer than that, but it wasn't without injury along the way...just random issues now and then...not like the everyday abuse. I'm so over-the-moon thankful I saw this video...a just know, I'd rather you NEVER had the life experiences that were clearly NOT of your making. We become the product of our childhood experiences without a doubt...100% I finally made my way in my early 30s, not 100%, but no more abuse caused by others...at least not of that horrible magnitude. It's hard for me to believe her story wholesale, however, because in this episode, she claims that her biological father has "never been an addict" – but in the following video, she describes his descent into alcoholism and crack addiction in the past year or so. A lot of her anecdotes correspond with the experiences (such as blacking-out and coming-to surrounded by men taking turns with her) of a woman of the same age whom I'd known well, but I'd known that woman well enough to know that she'd selectively embellish or lie by omission. This woman's discourse flows like she's aware of it as "her story," and she recounts it without re-living any harsh emotions, no tears, no halting to regain composure nor to find words for what she's trying to convey. A lot of people will not question the veracity of her story, as she's eliciting a lot of sympathy from people who are in recovery or who had "lost" friends or family members to addiction. Last but not least, although she's at an age when people still have youth to burn, she should have burned it all up by now if she's really drank and drugged to the extent that she describes. I wonder what her story really is. I also wonder if this is part of her hustle, and I wonder whether you vet your interviewees to see if their stories check-out.
