id: 1072460 - Text: I don't really understand Mark's technique of switching the subject to something random after someone shares a very vulnerable thought or feeling. It seems to me to be a bit artless at times. But I am surely fascinated by many of the stories tht are brought forth. He is doing a very specific kind of interview on the channel, and what he produces is pretty consistent. Still, I do feel that certain aspects can be a bit cringy, like moralizing about a prostitute being equally responsible for a guy cheating. Or calling rape "sex" or frankly just not listening very well at times to deep emotional truth and knowing how to respond with true empathy. I get that this channel is not about offering these folks therapy. Still, at times I wonder if it isn't just a very compelling trauma porn. What kind of change is this channel going to bring? Will the people going through their misery and pain get any help because of being interviewed? Will biases be overcome in people, such as with those who are already inclined to agree with Mark that most prostitutes aren't as smart or as "with it" as this interviewee? Will political and social reforms be on the way for the forgotten and untouchables? I have learned a lot about people's misery by watching this channel for sure. I would like to believe that the project is more ambitious than that.
